One thing I've noticed from my MANY google searches, this seems to be somehow associated with Service Pack 2. All it says is the installation is complete.
#INSTALL DIRECTX 9.0B HOW TO#
Can someone please help me to find out how to fix this issue? I have not received any errors from the DirectX installation. I know this topic is lengthy, but I wanted to make sure I covered all the details.

IT STILL DIDN'T WORK! Even after a fresh format/reinstall of windows. I reinstalled XP (pro sp2), and the FIRST thing I tried doing, even before installing video drivers, was I installed DirectX 9.0c.
#INSTALL DIRECTX 9.0B UPDATE#
But I STILL couldn't upgrade to 9.0c.Īnyway, something happened today that caused my computer to completely crash (a windows critical update is incompatible with my system and causes me to BSOD during boot). I also ran through that process yet another time, however that time I put in an older copy of Windows, which was packaged with DirectX 8.1.

So I used the Eradicator's roll-back feature to reinstall directx (which pulls the files off your windows CD).
#INSTALL DIRECTX 9.0B INSTALL#
When I removed it, 9.0c would not let me install because there were no existing versions of DirectX found on my system (because I just erased them with eradicator). So last night when I was struggling with this, I found somewhere to try running DirectX Eradicator to completely remove DirectX. So I close that window, reboot (even though it didn't ask me to), and check my version again (dxdiag). The components installed are ready for use." I never once see a progress bar of the new files being installed. After about 5 seconds it instantly goes to the next screen and says something to the effect of "Installation Complete. First I launched the installer, accepted the EULA, and then it said it was checking for previously installed versions. I downloaded the 9.0c redistributable and tried to install it. I have DirectX 9.0b, and I need to install 9.0c so I can play the game I just bought. Here I am after 11 straight hours of working on my crashed computer. Im still happily playin and since the original post i made i have had people email me saying it works for them to without problems.Today has been adventure. Happy playin, and of course I take no responsibility if anything happens to your system (I have to say that dont I) due to using this fix. Pls email at to tell me if it worked for you, since i wanna know if i fluked it for sum crazy reason and there you go you have installed directx 9.0c. Once done simply run dxsetup in the 9.0c version (which would be the one you copied before right) and it will install using the files from the folder it is in. i used dx eradicator from, bu there are plenty around then copy and paste the following from 9.0b to 9.0c:
#INSTALL DIRECTX 9.0B FULL#
You need both the 9.0b and 9.0c full versions. i also had to force my comp to play hl2 in dx8.1 beacuse it was so unstable and coppy with it a 9.0c and cod2 is forced into dx7 but when i do the dxdiag it says i got 9.0c? i got xp i got an radion 9550 and i have tryed reinstalling 9.0c with my rundll32 still not deleted and deleted and it doesnt seem to make a differnece PLEASE I BEG YOU HELP ME Reply now i had before this a year or so back deleted my rundll32.exe beacuse it got infected by a trojan (which every time i reinstall my rundll32 and delete it a virus one comes back…as well as a persistent se.exe file that stays in my temp file) it may be the virus but ive got tons of games that play fine like hl2 and rome total war and call of dudy 2 but just a few games wont let me play them. i reinstalled them 3-5 times and had all my virus stuff off and still nothing. I got a problem i just got fear, dawn of war, dawn of war winter assult after having installed the games and installed dx9.0c i double click on the icon for fear and a arrow thing with the hourglass thing appears and stays for 3-5 secs and dispears and nothing happens i looked on my taskmanager and it appears with nothing its like a dead end and the same thing for dawn of war. I am really confused now! If anyone knows anything (about what to do or the videocard) please let me know. Anyway, the point is that now I am SO CONFUSED b/c I dont even know what kind of card I have or if it works w/ the Sims and it still gives me that popup when I try to start the game that says it cannot find a compatible card for directX9.0, I have that, and also on dxdiag it says that i need to upgrade my card (which I have done over and over again) because it will not run direct3D.
#INSTALL DIRECTX 9.0B CODE#
THEN I went to the support site for the card (its NVIDIA but the site on the box was ) and when I looked up my purchase code it says that its a GeForce4…? the purchase code is PV-T98L-QYH7 (on the website the last 4 digits say NA). HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF A GeForce MX4000? Well, I bought one today to play the Sims 2, and when I check it on my computer (under ‘dxdiag’) it says the card I have is a RIVA 128…something or another.
